THE IMMORTAL LOTUS
The Immortal Lotus is an ancient artifact that has been around since the beginning of time. According to ancient teachings, the lotus made it possible for magic to be tangible to humans. It is connected to the elements and every living thing the world of Kawaakari has to offer. Aside from the lotus being the source of life and untamed magic, it was also assumed that it holds the magic that made the Headmaster, Headmistress, and the professors alive until now after hundreds of years. Because of it being a magical and historical artifact, the lotus is housed in a shrine made especially for its protection, and the spring where it is located is said to be the source of water that flows down the water systems that go through the academy.
THE PORTAL TO OTOHIME
The Portal to Otohime is a pool under a waterfall that comes from the spring where the Immortal Lotus is located. This water system connects to the river that goes through the academy. It is called a portal because it leads to an underwater crystal cave that is home to a siren and other underwater fauna. No one really knows how deep and vast it goes.
There is a certain magic that this pool holds. From above you can grasp the flowing water and feel it between your fingers but when you take a dip in it, you will realize that you can actually breathe underwater. The alchemists harvest water from this pool to create potions that have healing properties with it.
There is a siren that lives in the crystal cave, and she is named Otohime, “The Dragon Princess of the Sea".
Otohime takes the form of a beautiful woman with long white and almost translucent hair dressed in a gold and blue kimono. She is carrying a flute that is attached to the sash of her kimono.
She was said to be unable to speak and tends to avoid human interaction but when in a pleasant and unthreatened state, it was said that she understands human conversations and reacts to it.
When threatened, Otohime turns into a sea serpent and is seemingly protecting something.
